Rising Damp Treatment to a Front Bay Window Area – Leigh, Worcestershire
Project Overview
This project involved targeted rising damp treatment to a front bay window area within a property in Leigh, Worcestershire.
The issue was isolated to a single wall, where previous bridging of the damp proof course (DPC) had allowed moisture to track into the internal finishes. The external cause had already been rectified prior to our involvement, allowing us to focus on internal remedial works.
The Issue
The affected wall within the bay window area showed clear signs of rising damp, with deterioration to the plaster at low level.
The problem had been caused by bridging of the existing damp proof course, which had since been removed externally. However, the internal wall remained contaminated and required treatment to restore a dry and stable finish.
Our Approach
All affected plaster was removed to approximately one metre in height, in line with standard practice for rising damp treatment.
A thixotropic damp proof course (DPC) was installed via injection, forming a new chemical barrier to prevent further moisture rising through the masonry.
A two-part bonded membrane system was then applied to isolate any residual moisture and provide a suitable base for reinstatement.
Reinstatement & Finishing
Following installation of the damp proofing system, a base plaster was applied to rebuild the wall and achieve a consistent, level surface.
The area was then plaster skimmed to a smooth, high-quality finish, leaving the bay window area ready for decoration.
All works were completed with care and attention to detail, with the area left clean and tidy on completion.

The property in Leigh, Worcestershire now benefits from a fully resolved rising damp issue within the bay window area.
