Rising Damp & Solid Floor Damp Proofing – Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent
Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent
Project Overview
This project involved extensive damp proofing works to a Victorian property in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent, affecting multiple ground floor areas including the dining room, kitchen and utility.
The property was experiencing issues with both rising damp to the walls and moisture affecting the solid floor, requiring a comprehensive solution to fully protect the internal environment.
The Issue
The ground floor areas were affected by rising damp within the walls and moisture migrating through the solid floor, leading to deterioration of internal finishes and an unsuitable environment for everyday use.
Without proper treatment, moisture and vapour movement through the structure would continue to impact both wall and floor finishes, limiting the client’s ability to refurbish the space.
Our Approach
We began by addressing the wall areas, removing all affected plaster to the required treatment heights in line with best practice.
A thixotropic damp proof course (DPC) was installed via injection to form a new chemical barrier against rising moisture.
This was followed by the application of a two-part bonded membrane system, isolating residual moisture within the wall structure and preparing the surfaces for reinstatement.
Attention was then turned to the floor areas. The existing surface was prepared as required before applying a high-performance epoxy resin coating system.
This system acts as a surface-applied damp proof membrane, preventing both moisture and vapour from passing through the floor and affecting the final floor finish.
Reinstatement & Finishing
Following installation of the damp proofing systems, all wall areas were fully replastered to a smooth, high-quality finish.
The epoxy-treated floor provides a clean, dry and stable base, suitable for the client to apply their chosen floor covering, whether that be tiles, timber or other finishes.
All works were completed with attention to detail, ensuring a consistent finish across all treated areas.

The Result
The property in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stoke-on-Trent now benefits from a comprehensive damp proofing solution addressing both walls and floors.
By treating both elements together, we ensured a fully controlled internal environment, eliminating moisture issues and allowing the client to confidently proceed with their refurbishment plans.
The result is a dry, protected and professionally finished set of living spaces, ready for final decoration and use.
