Penetrating Damp Treatment to Bedroom – Solihull, Birmingham
Location: Solihull, Birmingham
Project Overview
This project involved the treatment of penetrating damp affecting a bedroom within a residential property in Solihull, Birmingham.
The client had been experiencing ongoing moisture issues to an external wall, resulting in damage to internal finishes and an uncomfortable living environment. Our role was to identify the cause and install a reliable internal system to prevent further issues.
The Issue
The bedroom wall was affected by penetrating damp, allowing moisture to pass through the external structure and impact the internal plasterwork.
This had led to visible deterioration of the wall finish, including damp patches and degradation of the existing plaster. Without intervention, the issue would continue to worsen over time.
Our Approach
To ensure a long-term solution, all defective plaster was removed from the affected areas to expose the underlying masonry.
A two-part bonded membrane system was then installed directly to the prepared surface. This system is designed to isolate moisture within the wall structure, preventing it from affecting internal finishes.
The membrane provides a consistent and reliable barrier, particularly suited to situations where penetrating damp is present.
Reinstatement & Finishing
Once the membrane system was installed, the wall was dry-lined using plasterboard to create a clean and level surface.
The area was then re-plastered and skimmed to a smooth, high-quality finish, leaving the bedroom ready for decoration.
All works were completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to the household.

The Result
The bedroom at this Solihull, Birmingham property is now fully protected against penetrating damp, with the internal wall restored to a clean and professional finish.
The solution provides long-term protection while improving both the appearance and usability of the space.
