Rising Damp Treatment – Bradley Stoke, Bristol

Location: Bradley Stoke, Bristol

Project Overview

This rising damp treatment was carried out at a substantial period property in Bradley Stoke, Bristol. Due to the age, size and layout of the building — along with multiple affected areas — the project presented both logistical and technical challenges, all of which were carefully managed by our experienced team.

The Issue

The client was experiencing rising damp affecting several ground floor living areas throughout the property. Moisture ingress had led to deterioration of internal wall finishes, visible damp staining and plaster degradation, requiring a comprehensive and long-term damp proofing solution.

Given the scale of the property and the number of affected rooms, this was not a simple single-area repair. Careful planning and phased working were required to ensure minimal disruption to the household.

Our Approach

As the property was fully furnished and occupied, significant care was taken to protect surrounding furniture, fixtures, flooring and decorative finishes before works commenced.

Plaster was removed to varying heights depending on recorded moisture readings, with the majority of areas stripped back to approximately one metre. All debris was carefully controlled and removed to maintain a clean working environment.

A thixotropic damp proof course (DPC) was then installed via injection, forming a new chemical moisture barrier within the masonry. This creates a long-term solution to prevent further rising damp from travelling up the wall structure.

Following installation of the DPC, we applied our two-part bonded membrane system, isolating residual moisture and providing additional protection prior to reinstatement.

Reinstatement & Finishing

Once the damp proofing system was in place, walls were rebuilt to their original plaster line using a combination of traditional wet plaster and plasterboard where required.

All treated areas were then plastered to a smooth, high-quality finish, ready for redecoration.

Throughout the project, our team maintained high housekeeping standards across all working areas. On completion, floors were thoroughly hoovered and mopped, and all areas were left clean, tidy and ready for handover.

The Result

The completed works have successfully resolved the rising damp issues within this Bradley Stoke, Bristol property, providing effective long-term protection while preserving the character and integrity of the home.

The client was left with dry, protected and professionally finished living spaces — delivered with minimal disruption and to a premium standard.
